Privacy policy

Plain-English summary of what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

When you create an account we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (never the password itself). When you contribute — photos, data edits, ratings, votes, comments — we store that content along with the account that made it and a timestamp. If you only read the site and never sign in, we don't collect personal information about you.

2. Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in after you log in. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Your browser also stores your light/dark theme choice locally on your device. That's it — no third-party analytics or ad cookies.

3. What's public

Worlds Wiki is a public, community-edited database, so some things you do are visible to everyone: your username, the photos and edits you contribute, your contributor profile and stats, and your ratings and votes (which can be shown alongside your username). Your email address and password are never shown publicly. Please don't choose a username you'd rather not have associated with your activity.

4. How we use your data

We use it only to run the site: to sign you in, attribute and display your contributions, let the community review submissions, show you notifications about your own contributions, and keep the database accurate and free of abuse. We do not sell your data.

5. Sharing

We don't share your personal data with third parties for their own use. We may share it if required by law, or to protect the site and its users from abuse or security threats. Public contributions are, by nature, visible to anyone who visits the site.

6. Retention

We keep your account and contributions while your account is active. Approved contributions may remain in the database after an account is closed (though they can be disassociated from your name on request), because other members may have built on them.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to close your account. To make a request, email contact@worldswiki.site. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR.

8. Children

Worlds Wiki is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). Please don't create an account if you are below that age.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
